Madison County VINELink Changed

Texas replaced county VINE and VINELink with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Existing registrations migrated to the newer service. Current county notification instructions should therefore point to IVSS, not to an old VINELink state-selection path or legacy phone script. “VINELink inmate search” remains a common search phrase, but the live Texas county portal has a different name and account process.

IVSS-Counties covers participating county jail and court events. It is a secondary status and notification channel. The portal warns that it is not an official record. People no longer in custody may not appear, and a registration can persist after a released person vanishes from search. For Madison County, obtain the sheriff's release sheet when the actual release time, authority, reason, or transfer destination matters.

Search Madison County IVSS Records

Search one person through the current portal. IVSS accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, jail ID, or permanent booking number. Its guidance suggests entering at least the first three letters of the first and last name, separated by a space, for a partial-name search. A CAPTCHA may be required. Use an agency identifier when available because names can match more than one person.

1. Open Texas IVSS-Counties and select the offender-search function.
2. Enter the jail ID, SID, DOC ID, permanent booking number, or a careful name query.
3. Complete the CAPTCHA when prompted.
4. Compare every available identifier before selecting a person.
5. Open the record and read status, location, and events without filling gaps by assumption.
6. Save the access date and call the holding agency for current confirmation.

An Unknown/Undisclosed location can reflect a pending court situation rather than a release. A missing person may have left custody, fallen outside the display, been entered under different identity details, or moved to a system that IVSS does not cover. Use the Madison County released-inmate search to follow the sheriff, TDCJ, BOP, or ICE path documented by the custody record.

Madison County IVSS Result Fields

IVSS search routes rely on identity and agency numbers, current custody or supervision status, location information when disclosed, and custody-event data supplied to the service. These fields help select the correct person and monitor a change. They do not create a certified booking-out record. The portal can change as participating agencies send updates.

Madison County's separate InteropWeb arrest-date results can preserve a RELEASED flag and booking fields, but omit the release timestamp, reason, authority, and destination. IVSS does not cure every omission in that county record. Request the sheriff's booking-out sheet and movement history for the completed event.

Register Madison County Release Alerts

Current IVSS notification registration differs from legacy VINE. The portal supports notification selection with or without a full account, depending on the flow displayed. Select the correct person first, choose the events and contact methods offered, and complete the email, telephone, text, or account verification shown on screen. A confidential account uses an email address and password, with optional phone methods and preference management.

1. Search and verify the correct person before opening notification options.
2. Select the custody events offered for that record.
3. Enter an email address and any optional telephone or text method.
4. Complete the contact or account verification presented by IVSS.
5. Review notification preferences and keep access details secure.
6. Use IVSS support if registration or account creation is unavailable.

On the research date, the portal displayed “Account creation is temporarily unavailable.” That is a service condition, not a reason to pretend registration succeeded. Call 866-268-8959 for help; the portal lists support as available around the clock. A notification is a prompt to verify, not proof of the exact legal or physical event.

Madison County VINE PIN Change

The old Texas VINE telephone workflow asked a registrant to choose a four-digit PIN and enter it when an automated call arrived. Calls could repeat until the PIN confirmed receipt. That instruction belongs to the legacy system. Current IVSS materials reviewed for this project use account and contact verification and do not document that four-digit notification PIN.

Existing VINE registrations migrated during the 2025 transition. A first login could require a password update. A person may stop appearing in a public search after release while the migrated alert registration remains active and can notify on a return to custody. Those facts make account management different from public search visibility.

The transition also changes how old instructions should be read. A page or handout that says to choose Texas in VINELink and set a PIN can describe a once-valid process without describing today's portal. Begin at IVSS-Counties, follow only the controls currently offered, and use support when a migrated registration cannot be accessed. Do not share passwords, verification codes, or private contact details with an unofficial caller.

Confirm Madison County Release Alerts

An IVSS alert should be checked against the source agency. For Madison County Jail, call 936-348-2755 for a point-in-time custody check and use the sheriff's Open Records Request for historical facts. Ask for the booking-out or release sheet, actual date and time, release disposition, authority, movement history, and transfer destination.

The county's InteropWeb date-range search is another signal. It can show a released booking when searched by arrest date. The status only means the vendor no longer treats that booking as current. It does not distinguish bond, court order, time served, TDCJ transport, extradition, federal transfer, or ICE transfer. Follow the receiving system named in the movement record.

For TDCJ prisoners, use the statewide inmate search while incarceration continues and TDCJ Classification and Records or Parole Division after release. TDCJ Victim Services provides the state-prison notification layer. IVSS-Counties should not be presented as a substitute for the TDCJ prison and parole system.

Madison County Alert Timing Limits

IVSS states that status changes are updated 24 hours a day, but that does not make each agency transmission instant or turn the portal into an official record. A booking, transfer, court action, release processing step, and public update can occur at different times. Save the time an alert arrived and the time the portal was checked, then ask the custodian for the official event time.

A released person may disappear from search. A no-result can also arise from spelling, an identifier error, a pending update, or transfer beyond county coverage. Do not infer discharge from a blank screen. Release from jail confinement can lead to probation, parole, another custodian, or no supervision, depending on the actual record.

Note: IVSS is useful for notice and navigation, while the sheriff, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or court remains the authority for its own event.

Federal Releases Bypass County IVSS

IVSS-Counties does not track the federal prison system. Search the BOP Inmate Locator for a federal prisoner. A past BOP release date with no facility location, or a location reading released, supports that BOP custody ended. It does not establish release from every other authority or the end of federal supervised release.

ICE uses the Online Detainee Locator. A Madison County booking can close when the jail transfers the person on an immigration detainer, while ICE custody begins. USMS federal pretrial custody may not appear in BOP. The county movement record is the bridge that identifies which federal path should be checked.

No one notification product spans Madison County Jail, TDCJ prison and parole, BOP, USMS, and ICE. Select the route by custodian, then confirm the event with that agency.

Madison County IVSS and TDCJ

Jim Ferguson Unit is a TDCJ state prison inside Madison County. That location does not place Ferguson release events in the county jail's notification path. TDCJ's live inmate search includes only people currently incarcerated in TDCJ facilities and is at least 24 hours old. A released person can stop appearing there, so use TDCJ records and the Parole Division for post-release confirmation.

TDCJ Victim Services handles state-prison, parole, and mandatory-supervision notification. IVSS-Counties handles county jail and court events within its participating scope. A person transferred from Madison County Jail to Ferguson or another state unit changes systems. The sheriff movement record documents the handoff, and TDCJ then controls the incarceration and release data.

When the TDCJ search still returns the person, distinguish the current unit, projected release date, parole eligibility date, and any scheduled release date or location. None is interchangeable with an IVSS county event. After prison release, the Parole Division confirms supervised status. After full discharge, historical TDCJ and sentencing-court records are stronger evidence than either live search.
